Knife Girl

Assalamualaikum wbt.

Today, I’m going to share about one of my friend. She was my classmate during my Form 4. At first, I only thought that she is just a stern person, like lion. She looks very matured and seems to be very choosy when it comes to making friends. She looks like a cool person. Later on, as time passes, I found that she was also a scary and mysterious person. There were several incidents that I’ve witnessed.

The first incident. One day, at hostel, I went to her room and we had some chit chatting, gossips. That time, I sat on her bed. I put my hand on her bed and suddenly touched something under her pillow. And guess what, I found a knife. It was not a small knife or just a mere paper cutter. But I can say that it was a medium size knife which we usually use to slice chicken, vegetables in the kitchen. I think she was awared that my face has changed because of course I’m frightened at that time. Then, I quickly ended our conversation by saying that I have some work to do. So that’s the first incident.

The second incident is during school hour. During Recess time. She asked my friend to look for something in her school bag. Her pencil case if I’m not mistaken. She told my friend to just only look into the first zip. But naughty my friend opened up the second zip. That time, I was there and my friend found a knife in her bag. It was the same knife that I found earlier in her room. When my friend asked her the reason why she bring the knife to class, she just simply replied that it was for survival. She didn’t even explain that a bit. That’s the second incident.

Now the most frightening incident. Our class had to prepare for an exhibition. So we did all the preparations during evening. My friend, the one who always bring knife, she slept in the class that evening but before she slept, she already told us to just leave her alone. That night, we noticed that she was not in musolla. So, between maghrib and isyak, my friends and I went to our class because we were worried about her.

When we arrived at our class, we were really shocked and kind of “meremang bulu roma” because she still slept in class but now she was holding her knife. We shaked her body to wake her up but instantly made distance from her. We were worried that she might attack us.

One day, me, my friends, tried to confront with her and asked her about why she always bring her knife. She told us that she put the knife under her pillow because she was worried that someone would come and kill her at night. Moreover, her room was at the end of the dorm, the last room. Then, she brought her knife all time with her because she didn’t know when will the bad people and dangers come out. She looks like the most confidant and bravest person among all my friends but actually, she lived in fear.

Today, I share this story with all of you because I want all of us to be more caring and more attentive towards our friends. We cannot just ignore our friends who are having problems. We might cannot solve their problems but we can provide them support and advice them rational actions towards their situations.

I bet many of you have heard a Hadith whereby it mentioned about Loving our brother.

Anas narrated that the Prophet(s.a.w) said:
“None of you believes until he loves for his brother what he loves for himself.”

This hadith tells us that we should love our friends in the way that we want ourselves to be. We want them to get what we got. Feel what we feel.

Hence, we also should try to make some effort so that we and our friends can enjoy the beautiful of life together. I regret that I cannot make my friend feel the feeling of safe and peace that I felt during school time before this. In conclusion, you can chase your dream life as far as you can, but don’t forget to bring along your friends.
