Stop Comparing Yourself

We all have that friend who makes Dean’s list every semester, has all A’s and B’s and almost makes us feel like crap because we might have one or two C’s.

College can be hard as it is depending on the major you are in and the amount of class you take a semester. It can also be hard when you have those professors who don’t go over the homework or talk about the information that will be on the exam or even when they don’t post a study guide. Sometimes trying to get the perfect grades isn’t the most important, but just learning and doing the work is. Of course, everyone knows the students who are obsessed with getting the perfect grades and freak out over a B-, even if you are just happy you passed the test with a C.

Sometimes we have to stop comparing ourselves to those who have an easier time at school than us. Like if your friend complains about getting a B on a test, you can’t put yourself down because you got a C, of course, this is easier said than done and we can’t just stop putting ourselves down by comparing us with others. Everyone is different, and I have heard a lot of “myths” about students who aren’t great at school because their minds are too creative to concentrate on regular work.

So if you just found out you have a D or a couple of C’s in some classes, don’t stress too much. Just either go to your professor and ask them about extra credit or if it’s the way you studied for that test then discover new ways of studying that might work for you. Stop putting yourself down because you try and try to make the Dean’s list and it never works out. Stop comparing yourself to other students who have an easier time with work. We are all different and born with different ways of learning, and that is nothing to make yourself feel bad about.

I am writing to express how much different between all of us and this doesnt meant ypu should just stay in your comfort zone. Get out of it and seek for better future no matter what grade you got. If you found out you are the one that got Dean’s list every semester, dont be rude or ‘riak’. Help each other and may Allah bless you.
