Have you ever heard of matchmaking agency in Malaysia? Well, if you aware of the existence, maybe I was living in a Medieval age all this while.
Never have I thought that I will be engaging matchmaking agency to find ‘the one’.
I resort to this alternative after trying many ways and they’re all going south. And hey, after trying, it was such a pleasant journey, man :)
Let me walk you through my experience. Settle down and get yourself comfortable, it’s gonna be a long one but worth it, in sya Allah.
I booked an appointment to meet 2 matchmaking agencies. Both agencies offered free profiling session.
Agency 1
The profiling session with the matchmaking consultant (i.e. cupid) was amazing.
Once I arrived, I need to fill in my personal details (name, age, occupation, etc) and my preferences about the guy (age, religion, smoker, drinker, etc). It was a 2 page kinda details to be filled in.
Right after that, my cupid and I had informal conversation whereby she asked questions to get to know me better. She was such a lovely lady, very welcoming and attentive.
Indirectly, I let my guard down and shared to her a fair bit about my key values, personality, lifestyle, hobbies, etc.
Then, she explained on the concept of matchmaking services that they offered. After the cupid went through my details, she said there is 2 packages for me to choose from.
Package one is 5 dates (fee: RM5k+) and package two is 10 dates (RM7k+). I need to make full payment (they have instalment plan). Only once I settle the payment, the cupid will start working on my match.
I also need to give my details for their verification (IC, academic certificate, payslip, business card, photo, etc). After all these are complete, then only I will become their member.
All members need to go through this strict vetting process and need to pay quite a hefty sum of money. Hence, there should be less hanky panky-stuff going on here.
Okay, back to business. If let say I choose package one, I will be having 5 dates with 5 different guys.
So, how it works is the cupid will find a match for me based on my preferences.
Once she found a match for me, she will inform me on that match. At the same time, she will inform that guy about me too. If both are okay to proceed, she will arrange us to meet up.
If after that meet up, I just don’t click with that guy, I can request for another meet up with different guy. The same process applies as per above.
Then, if after this meet up, I like this guy and we want to proceed to the next level, we should inform our cupid. Thus, our membership with the matchmaking agency will be cancelled.
If you recall, my package is for 5 dates. But, I’ve found my match in just 2 dates. Then, what happen to my remaining 3 dates? My cupid said it will burnt coz anyway I have found my match here and I’m not in a lost making position.
Unfortunately, I did not signed up as a member with this agency.
Agency 2
The profiling session was a bit different but refreshing.
I need to fill in around 5 pages. There’s additional interesting questions asked (i.e., personality type, strengths, weaknesses, dream holiday destination, frequency of exercise, favourite cuisine, who should pay for the first meal, etc).
The questions were a bit wow for me. I took more than 30 minutes to complete ‘em.
After that, I had a chit chat with my cupid. The questions that she asked caught me off guard.
She asked really big deal questions (i.e., how much is my monthly saving, what is the thing that I can’t compromise, how will my family describe me, elaborate on my weaknesses, etc.).
She didn’t ask much things about me. But surprisingly at the end of our conversation, she make conclusions about me and they’re all correct!
Their membership packages are 2 dates (fee is RM3k) and 5 dates (fee is RM5k+). The payment plan and information required for verification are similar to Agency 1.
If let say I choose package two, I will be having 5 dates with 5 different guys. Similar process of matchmaking as per agency 1 applies.
However, the great part is, if let say I clicked with the second guy, my remaining 3 dates can be given to my single friend. Yeay, it won’t go to waste.
Thus, I decided to sign up with Agency 2.
Hey, that one hell of a story right. I hope I didn’t bore you to death. If you think that this might work for you, give it a shot. You might really find ‘the one’ here.
At least, you’re well aware of important things to know about that guy before you decide to meet up. This is a form of trying too but in a much secured way. I wish you all the best in building the relationship.
